EMPTY EGG

Jeremy was born with a twisted body and a slow mind. At the age of 12
he was still in second grade, seemingly unable to learn. His teacher,
Doris Miller, often became exasperated with him. He would squirm in his
seat, drool, and make grunting noises. At other times, he spoke clearly and
distinctly, as if a spot of light had penetrated the darkness of his brain.
Most of the time, however, Jeremy just irritated his teacher.

One day she called his parents and asked them to come in for a
consultation. As the Forresters entered the empty classroom, Doris said
to them, "Jeremy really belongs in a special school. It isn't fair to him to be
with younger children who don't have learning problems. Why, there is a
five year gap between his age and that of the other students."

Mrs. Forrester cried softly into a tissue, while her husband spoke. "Miss
Miller," he said, "there is no school of that kind nearby. It would be a
terrible shock for Jeremy if we had to take him out of this school. We
know he really likes it here."
Doris sat for a long time after they had left, staring at the snow outside
the window. Its coldness seemed to seep into her soul. She wanted
to sympathize with the Forresters. After all, their only child had a
terminal illness. But it wasn't fair to keep him in her class. She had 18
other youngsters to teach, and Jeremy was a distraction.
Furthermore, he would never learn to read and write. Why waste any
more time trying?

As she pondered the situation, guilt washed over her. Here I am
complaining when my problems are nothing compared to that poor
family, she thought. Lord, please help me to be more patient with
Jeremy. From that day on, she tried hard to ignore Jeremy's noises
and his blank stares. Then one day, he limped to her desk, dragging
his bad leg behind him.

"I love you, Miss Miller," he exclaimed, loud enough for the whole class
to hear. The other students snickered, and Doris' face turned red.

She stammered, "Wh-why that's very nice, Jeremy. N-now please,
take your seat."

Spring came, and the children talked excitedly about the coming of
Easter. Doris told them the story of Jesus, and then to emphasize
the idea of new life springing forth, she gave each of the children a
large plastic egg. "Now," she said to them, "I want you to take this
home and bring it back tomorrow with something inside that shows
new life. Do you understand?"

"Yes, Miss Miller," the children responded enthusiastically--all except
for Jeremy. He listened intently; his eyes never left her face. He did
not even make his usual noises. Had he understood what she said
about Jesus' death and resurrection? Did he understand the
assignment? Perhaps she should call his parents and explain the
project to them.

That evening, Doris' kitchen sink stopped up. She called the landlord
and waited an hour for him to come by and unclog it. After that, she
still had to shop for groceries, iron a blouse, and prepare a
vocabulary test for the next day. She completely forgot about
phoning Jeremy's parents.

The next morning, 19 children came to school, laughing and talking as
they placed their eggs in the large wicker basket on Miss Miller's
desk. After they completed their math lesson, it was time to open the
eggs. In the first egg, Doris found a flower. "Oh yes, a flower is certainly
a sign of new life," she said. "When plants peek through the ground, we
know that spring is here." A small girl in the first row waved her arm.
"That's my egg, Miss Miller," she called out. The next egg contained a
plastic butterfly, which looked very real. Doris held it up. "We all know
that a caterpillar changes and grows into a beautiful butterfly. Yes,
that's new life, too."
Little Judy smiled proudly and said, "Miss Miller, that one is mine."
Next, Doris found a rock with moss on it. She explained that moss,
too, showed life. Billy spoke up from the back of the classroom,
"My daddy helped me," he beamed.

Then Doris opened the fourth egg. She gasped. The egg was
empty. Surely it must be Jeremy's she thought, and of course, he
did not understand her instructions. If only she had not forgotten
to phone his parents.

Because she did not want to embarrass him, she quietly set the egg
aside and reached for another. Suddenly, Jeremy spoke up.
"Miss Miller, aren't you going to talk about my egg?"
Flustered, Doris replied, "But Jeremy, your egg is empty." He
looked into her eyes and said softly, "Yes, but Jesus' tomb was
empty, too."

Time stopped. When she could speak again, Doris asked him,
"Do you know why the tomb was empty?"
"Oh, yes," Jeremy said, "Jesus was killed and put in there. Then
His Father raised Him up."

The recess bell rang. While the children excitedly ran out to the school
yard, Doris cried. The cold inside her melted completely away.

Three months later, Jeremy died. Those who paid their respects at the
mortuary were surprised to see 19 eggs on top of his casket, all of
them empty.

It's that time of year again and I thought I'd write about the top New Year's Resolutions.
I'm excited about this year and can't wait to achieve my goals and I know you're probably scratching your head about what your resolution should be or maybe you already know. Perhaps my list of top resolutions will help...Top New Years Resolutions

A new year always brings with it new resolutions of people hopeful to change the old. Popular changes that many people would like to make are listed below, in no particular order.

1. Lose Weight – With more than fifty percent American adults and countless others in other countries being overweight, it’sno wonder that this resolution appears a lot. Unfortunately there are so many plans out there for losing weight and eating right, that it’s difficult to know what works and what doesn’t and which plan is best for which individual. Keys to successful weight loss focus on good eating habits, a good exercise program and sticking to targeted goals to reach.

2. Pay Off Debt – A main resolution of many is to pay off credit cards and minor installments loans; i.e. like auto loans, not mortgages. Often a tough job, lack of paying off debt often stems form economic issues, unexpected bills, decreased income, health-related bills and more mounting all year long. Do you best and check into refinancing at lower rates is often advised.

As you might, or might not know, I am a divorced father of two young girls. They live with me, since I have residental custody. As every single parent knows, it is an ongoing challenge to keep the house clean. Even with both parents and/or without children, it could be quite the chore.

Well, I came across a few "sytems" to keep me focused. And, I would like to share them with you now.

Formost, I firmly praise in the support I receive from Jesus. {My best friend.} God has given me, the strength to deal with those hard situations in life. Yes, I have many challenges. But, it is through the Lord's Gifts to me that I succeed.

One of those gifts of the Lord, is my support network; close family and friends.
I praise God that both my parents are able to assist me VERY often.
I thank them, dearly! :->

Networking is a valuable resourse. I become activly involved with a Bible study group, Sunday School teaching, and my daughters' "personal development instuctors"; (teachers and support).
I know where and how to obtain more resources, from the community if needed. I know how to contact my area Ministries, if need be.

The last "tools" that I use to stay focused are online motivational systems. The two that I get the most value out of are:

1) Simpleology.com; the simple science of getting what you want.

AND

2) The Flylady ;( http://flylady.net - A great house cleaning system. )

Yes, men can and should clean houses also. And, it IS OK to take advice from a woman.
Of course, my house is not clean (all the way) yet. But, it is a lot better than it used to be. And, it will only get better.

Well, thank you for reading all of this. I hope that it will give you some helpful insight as to what you can do to FOCUS ON YOUR LIFE. Remove the clutter.

A Castle In Kansas?

WOW. Who would have believed it, if you didn't see it yourself? I found a CASTLE in Kansas.
(Off of Old Highway 40, just west of Junction City, it is visable from I-70.) It is a "playhouse" built for the property owner's daughter many years ago. Yet, like any grand castle of ages long ago, it is still being worked upon today. It has bridges, a victoria garden, suits of armor, lion and gargoal statues, a "great hall", a dungeon, and even a sea monster in the "lake". I brought my daughters there for a "tea garden party". It was GRAND. It is not listed in the Castles of the United States, yet it should be.

Just a little steam release.

I pride myself on the self learning I have been doing in the field of webpage design, yet recently my work was challenged.

I have been building the web site for St. Xavier Parish from the very beginning. And then I have built the web site for St. Xavier Catholic School ( http://stxavier.net ) . I did this all volunteerly. (Even when my children were not enrolled in the school.) I optimized the site as best I could do in the search engines. I listed the school site in as many educational school listings I could find, thus increasing the incoming traffic. I did the best I could do in keeping it updated, even with my multiple requests for information from the staff and teachers being delayed. I had problems getting the school lunch menu updated and the school handbook changed "right" after I finished a long manual entry html page.

I guess the current updates were not fast enough for them. The school started it's own "new" website; http://saintxrams.org .
{{ Which, by the way, I found out about by reading it in the Sunday church bulletin. This printed bulletin I have been picking up, usually, on Thurdays to be able to do the WEEKLY updates to the bulletin online.}}

Don't get me wrong. I am glad that she wanted to undertake the JOB of keeping the school site current. I wish her the best of luck. At first, I changed the links throughout the site to reflect the current updates that she had to offer. (menu, newsletter, handbook, etc.) No problem.

What got me upset was the fact that first the principal, and then the new web builder (after bumping into her at a convience store), both TOLD ME to transfer ALL control to them... to transfer the right to the domain name (stxavier.net) to them.... to set up a redirect on that home page to the NEW website ..... to "drop" [delete] all the work that I have done on the site.

Well, thank you for being so kind to let me get that off my chest.

After prayer and reflection, I have decided that I OWN http://stxavier.net.

I will modify it to include links to the current updates that the new webmaster is going to do.
I will offer my assistance to the school and/or the new webmaster for any page editing.
I will keep the links that I have from the parish web site to my school site.
I will continue to pray for the benefit of St. Xavier School.
I will meet them half way; I am including a rotating redirect on the home page. Half the time, visiting viewers will go to my work. The other half of the time, visitors will be redirected to the new work.

We both win. That is the christian thing to do. My prayers go out to all.

Here in the United States, who has not heard of God? Everyone has. Yet, we need to understand that the largest area of ignorance of God (as the Personage of Jesus Christ) is in Asia. There Christianity is persecuted and replaced with Budism and Mosliam. The Missionaries there, that are tring to preach about Jesus Christ, are often rejected, stoned, imprisioned, and/or killed. Groups like Gospal For Asia (GFA Intro Video) try to inform others of the barriers and the successes of these missionaries.

Like those groups, your website should inform others of the barriers and the successes of your mission. Being truthful in what you display, will show your visitors an honorable picture of you and/or your business. The beauty of the Great Designer will shine thru. Your visitors will feel more comfortable with you, and return. They will tell their friends, increasing your network.

The next level of spiritual growth is Personal Acceptance of God's Love - After being introduced to the idea of God, we have to come to the understanding that God has, does, and always will love us.

A big part of getting organized is ensuring that you're doing the things that will . . .

1) help you to feel good about yourself each day, and

2) will help you reach your ultimate goals in life.

First, it is important to know what you want in life.

Perhaps some of your ultimate goals might include making a salary of $200,000 per year, running your own successful business out of your home, having a family, winning a specific award, writing a novel, etc. etc. Think about your ultimate goals. Write them down. Adjust this list as your goals broaden, or change.

Then, while you're in the process of achieving your ultimate goals, you will want to stay on track and stay motivated. That's why it is important to come up with a list of daily affirmations that will ensure you always feel good about yourself, obstacles will be reduced and you're always motivated to achieve your ultimate goals.

Come up with your own personal, organized list of Daily Affirmations. For example, here are the ones I live by. Perhaps you'll want to take some of these for your own list, and simply add on what is important to you.

EACH DAY . . .

Learn something new. Share it with someone else.
Do something nice for someone else.
Do something nice for yourself.
Think of at least one specific thing to be thankful for.
Do something to grow your business/advance your career.
Eat three healthy meals.
Do some form of exercise for at least 20 minutes.
Do something you enjoy.
Do a chore a day.
Make sure each of the above affirmations were met.
It is recommended that you come up with your own list, and post this list somewhere that you're sure to see it every single day.

Your Daily Affirmations will help you identify the path you want to take in life, will keep you on track, and will help you enjoy life along the way.

Hail and Water

June 4, 2005, Midwest Kansas, Junction City from 2:30pm to 6:30 pm two thunderstom fronts colided in this area, downloading golf ball sized hail, and turrental rains that caused flash flooding everywhere. Many of the streets were filled with rivers of overflow. My car was parked in the street alongside work; City Ice Co. It was were I always parked it. This street is at the base of the city's East Side slope. I was assisting with deliveries to south Kansas. At 11:30 pm when we returned home, I opened the door to the car to see some water pour out of the door well. The water got up high enough to fill my cup holders, as it "flooded" the engine. One crank of the engine caused a water pistol from the muffler. Over a half hour later, the washed out car finally started. Running rough and still leaking water from the exhaust pipe and floor boards. The mildew smell lasted for days.
This story echos across the town. Basements and cars flooded. Lawns washed away, retaining walls striped down, limbs and leaves everywhere. From near drought conditions, to overflowing rivers and streams in a matter of minutes. People are at awe with nature. Yet, are we to forget God's awesome powers. He washed away our sins with his Healing Waters; Love.

Human Dignity As A Factor In Web Design

Personal Health - If the body is weak and/or in pain, then the heart and mind will not be able to give their energy towards God. It is in protecting the human dignity that is the core beginning of every Christian outreach.

"The vocation of humanity is to show forth the image of God and to be transformed into the image of the Father's only Son. This vocation takes a personal form since each of us is called to enter into the divine beatitude; it also concerns the human community as a whole."

" Every person, from the moment of conception to natural death, has inherent dignity and a right to life consistent with that dignity " (Reflections, pp. 1-2).

Human life:
" It's a living thing, what a terrible thing to lose. " (ELO)

Abortion, Poverty, Murder, War; These are just a few of the terrors that befalls man. They destroy the dignity of the human race.



Every person has an inner desire to do away with items that bother them. Yet, all too often, it is just turning our backs on the situation and walking away. That doesn't solve the problem. But, if we address the problem, we could be able to search for a solution to those problems.

      Your website may not be on a crusade to end some wrong doing. Yet,
if you address something on your website that will enrich the quality of our fellow man, then your viewer will feel that they are assisting the human dignity. They will not walk away. Keeping your visitors at your website longer, and returning often, is the goal of a good web design that I am triing to show within my articles; Christian Web Design.

information about your local food pantry,

hospice (caregiver) services,

a fund raiser event for cancer victims,

local blood drive infomation,

anti-abortion rally information.

So, therefore, find your favorite cause and make it YOUR GREATEST campaign by showing others that you are concerned about those less fortunate. The human nature of fellowship will give your site the honor of being able to help those that get assisted by your visitors' participation. I whole heartily believe that the internet is a prime tool for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This page will give you the beginning of tools and insights for doing just that. There are many resourses available, yet I would like to help explain how they could be incorporated together for the glory of God.

We will start by defining the steps to spiritual growth.
You say, "Wait a minute, I already know where I stand with God. Who are you to tell me that I need to grow spiritually."
Well, rest assured that I do not want to be misunderstood. What I would like is to tell you MY understanding of the levels of development needed to build a successful internet ministry.

Learning of God - We can not get to know God better if we never heard of Him. Yet, the beauty of creation leads many to understand that there is "Something" that puts it all together; The Great Designer.

Personal Acceptance of God's Love - After being introduced to the idea of God, we have to come to the understanding that God has, does, and always will love us.

Communication with God - Now we "talk" to God. Personal prayer, silence, praise, and reading of His Words.

Aid Our Fellow Man - As per God's wishes, we strive to be more like God by tending to the needs of those around us. (Strenghtening other's personal health.) Our actions inform others, that we are now at peace.

Share God - Spreading the Word of God. Letting others know of God's Love.

Encourage (Comfort) Others - Building up our fellowship with our fellow worshipers.

Singing Praise - Letting the world know of our joy in God.

Now, you may have noticed, that within the above levels of spiritual development, that I did not mention Jesus Christ. We know he is God, yet this is to help understand that not all peoples believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. These levels are for Universal Understanding of, and Admiration of a Supreme Being.

If we understand other's spiritual needs, then we could supply a better evangialistic relationship with them.

We will see to their:

physical needs,
knowledge of God (Jesus Christ),

personal acceptance of Jesus' Love,

communication to Jesus (via prayer),

community of believers,

preaching of the Gospel,

fellowship,

praise to our Lord

I will take you through each step to show you some great resourses available to do each level. With content for every level of spiritual development, you will have a VERY POWERFULL CHRISTIAN WEBSITE.

Hello and God Bless, Below is the newsletter that I send out to my http://jcchurches.net newsletter group. I thought that I would like to include it here also.

Welcome to the Fourth issue of the JCCHURCHES.net newsletter, (For February 2005).
I am George McMillin, your web servant.
Where have I been? Time, work, children, school... You know the drill. Too much happening, yet not enough time. I would like to apoligize for not being unable to keep the newsletter on a monthly schedule like I planned. I am going to try to restart it on a bi-monthly effert now. Please bear with me. Lord permitting I will be able to do it. (Your continued prayers is always needed.)
My goal is to link all churches in the area of Junction City, Kansas. Our directory listing will be a valuable tool for religious leaders, religious seekers, and local organizations.
Join in this community of Christ's followers. We should always share in the fellowship of God's love. As we rejoice in each other's good times, and pray for assistance during times of strife, that builds up our understanding of what Jesus wants us to be.
